The main village in the heart of nature welcomes you with hotels and hostels, restaurants, cafés, and a huge variety of shops. With its 3600 inhabitants, Bengtsfors is the biggest village in our municipality. You still live in the middle of nature here, too. Bengtsfors is beautifully situated along the shores of lake Lelången and lake Bengtsbrohöljen. The Dalsland canal leads through Bengtsfors and our spacious yacht harbor invites guests to stay for a while. If you don’t have your own (or hired) boat, you might fancy a trip with one of our passenger boats traveling on the canal to enjoy the gorgeous views of locks and lakes.
For the active visitor, there is the possibility of renting a canoe or a bike to get closer to nature. Hiking in different degrees of difficulty and length is also a favorite. In the center of the village, you’ll find, besides schools, even medical services, a pharmacy, and a dentist. There are several little shops, food shops, and restaurants or cafés. Here is also the famous open-air museum with typical houses and furniture from Dalsland and an amazing view of the surroundings.
