Karlstad is located on the Klarälven delta on the northern shore of Lake Vänern, midway between Stockholm and Oslo. In total, Karlstad municipality has over 94,000 inhabitants, and in the Karlstad region, there are over 140,000 people.
Karlstad has one of Sweden's youngest universities, with approximately 16,000 students studying to become teachers, civil engineers, graduate economists, and nurses. There is also a large central hospital and many important authorities, such as the Swedish Consumer Agency and the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency.
Karlstad is a wonderful city to visit. Experience concerts on one of our stages, enjoy the watercolors at Sandgrund Lars Lerin and see the latest exhibition at Värmlands Museum. IF Göta arranges large athletics galas every year. Not to mention the World Rally Championship, as the region is filled with rallying people from all over the world for a few intense days. There is plenty of shopping here, with both a lively downtown store with small shops, several malls, and an external shopping center, Bergvik, including Ikea. Karlstad has a high trade index. We like to have guests, and Löfbergs spreads a good coffee aroma over the city.
