In Northwest Germany near the Dutch border is the town of Kleve. It is a quaint town situated in the lower Rhine region with a population of just 50,000. Kleve has an interesting history, being the birth town of Anne of Cleaves, one of Henry VIII’s wives.
Unfortunately, much of the original medieval architecture was destroyed in WWII. Being on the border with the Netherlands means there is a strong overlap of culture and language, but German is still the official language.
It is great for active students who are interested in sports, as it offers more than 25 different sports to take part in. The climate is mild and temperate.
