About the City
In the South of the country is the city of Kraków. It is Poland’s second-largest city and is also one of the country’s oldest cities. Over the centuries it has maintained itself as an economic, academic, and cultural hub of Poland. The total population of the city is 780,000 of which there are around 100,000 students.
The heart of the city is the Old Town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. This area has magnificent churches, museums, and the largest market square in Europe. During the Christmas period, the market square transforms into one of the best Christmas markets in Europe. Other noteworthy sites include the Wawel castle, which is now an impressive museum. With a large young population, Krakow has a thriving nightlife with plenty of bars, restaurants, and clubs, which won’t break the bank!
