Top Universities in Krems an der Donau for International Students

These have been vetted by Beyond the States to be the best universities in Krems an der Donau for international students. They are guaranteed to offer English-taught programs without any foreign language requirements.

Why should I study here?

Krems an der Donau is a small town in Lower Austria that punches well above its weight in terms of sightseeing and attractions. Located in the Wachau valley and resting on the banks of the Danube, Krems holds an important position in the region and is only 70km from Vienna.

This historic city has a rich history of wine production, and also boasts great charm and character with its old architecture and a favorable seat on the Danube. The town has great transport links by rail to neighboring places and also can be reached from Vienna in only an hour.

Special Notes

Krems is a small city on the Danube river and is just one hour by train from Vienna. The small population of 40,000 does not impact student life, since 15,000 of those inhabitants are students!  The campus is shared by the three universities and also holds one of the student residences, where single rooms cost 350 euros a month.  The city center is just a 15-minute walk from campus and holds ample opportunities for active student life.  There is also an ESN office on the campus that arranges trips, parties, laser tag, pub quizzes, holiday dinners, and more. A small city like this can be a great option for international students.

Since it’s a student city, there are many establishments that cater to students (cafes, pubs, etc), but the size of the city is less overwhelming than a large city might be. That said, Vienna is just one hour away, so students still have access to city offerings as well.
