The Roman town of Pollentia was founded in the II century BC and is the place where the famous battle between the Romans and the Visigoths took place in 402 AD.
Pollenzo acquired its medieval look thanks to King Carl Albert of Savoy, who called the most famous artists of his time to work on the Church of San Vittore, the Cascina Albertina, the castle, and the Agenzia. Today, Pollenzo hosts the University of Gastronomic Sciences, which is considered to be the first university completely focused on food culture. It was established in 2004 and has become one of the main international centers of research and training on a new model of agricultural methods and biodiversity.
Inside the complex of the Agenzia, the Wine Bank was founded at the end of the ‘90s in order to create a historical memory of Italian wines by selecting, storing, and retaining the best wines of our country. Moreover, Pollenzo is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and a part of the city of Bra, Italy
