Autonomous University of Barcelona
Description
The history of the UAB begins on June 6, 1968, when the decree on the creation of the Universitat Autnoma de Barcelona (UAB) is officially promulgated. One month later, the first four faculties are created: Philosophy and Arts, Medicine, Science, and Economics. Teaching activities at the UAB began in October 1968.
Student Life
The sports facilities of the UAB, situated within walking distance from the residential area of the UAB Campus, are, purely in terms of their variety and quality, one of the most fully equipped sporting complexes in Catalonia. They include 2 indoor swimming pools, 1 outdoor swimming pool, a gym hall, a fitness room, tennis, paddle tennis, and squash courts, a racquetball court, an indoor sports pavilion, an artificial grass outdoor football field, a rock climbing area, a beach volleyball court, a sauna, locker rooms, and a solarium. In addition, there are six nature trails on the UAB campus.
Dining
There are a number of dining options on campus including canteens, restaurants, pizzerias, and bars.
Housing
The student housing options are pretty nice. There is on-campus housing with two restaurants and a pool for about 450 euros a month (single room). There are many other student residences in Barcelona. Some have a pool, gym, or meal plan options. Rooms without meal plans can be found from 374-600 euros per month.
