Why should I study here?

HZ has around 5.000 students divided over four study years and 22 bachelor degree programs, seven of which are taught in English. Some 500 students come from outside the Netherlands, so we have a great mix of Dutch and international students. Easy mathematics will tell you that, with such numbers, classes are going to be small.

What are the admissions criteria?

Applicants need to apply by June 15th through the studies link.  Students must have a high school education which is equivalent to the Dutch "HAVO".  For most countries (including the US), this is a regular high school diploma.   Any three-year programs that require VWO equivalence (IB diploma, 4 AP scores of 3+, A levels, and 1 year of college). Country-specific requirements for the levels can be found here: .

Housing options.

When you are looking for accommodation in Zeeland, there are possibilities to find a good and affordable room in Vlissingen or Middelburg. Most student houses are near the city centers and within cycling distance of HZ. In Vlissingen, you are also close to the Boulevard and beach when you want to get a breath of fresh air. Housing corporations have partnered with housing companies APV and Villex to make it easier for students to find a place to live in. Once you have registered at HZ, you can start booking a room. You need to make a reservation for accommodation yourself.

Additional notes.

The Universities of Applied Sciences are quite reputable in the Netherlands and provide a way for students without the IB/AP requirements held by the Universities to study in this very cool country.  That said, students should be aware of extra requirements that may be necessary when applying for graduate school.
