Why should I study here?

English proficiency is a requirement for all students since all programs are either taught in English or English and German combined (the programs that include German are not listed here).

What are the admissions criteria?

The application deadline for international applicants is May 31. The application includes the online submission of transcripts, a letter of motivation, and a CV. Applicants also need to include a photocopy of their passport. After the application is reviewed, prospective students have a 30-60 minute interview with two professors (Skype interviews for international students). Applicants are notified of the admission decision within one day after their interview. There are four different application cycles starting in October and ending on May 30th.  For example, if you apply in October or November, your interview and decision will be in December.  Apply in December or January and your interview and decision will be in March. The application period usually starts in March and the deadline is July 15th.  An IB diploma (with specific courses and scores) meets the admissions requirements. Germany has changed their admissions requirements again, starting for the 2021-22 school year, and now accepts AP scores! Students who want to apply to programs related to Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, and Economics need scores of 3+ in English. A foreign language that needs to be French, Spanish, Latin or German, Math or natural science which can be Calc, Bio, Chem, or both Physics C tests. In addition, I score in European History, American History, Computer Science, or Macro+Micro Economics.

Students who want to apply for programs centered around Math, Science, and Technology need scores of 3+ in Math (specifically Calculus). Natural Science (Bio, Chem, or both Physics C tests). Language (French, Latin, German, Spanish, or English Lit or Lang/Comp). Addition score in European History, American History, Computer Science, or Macro+Micro Economics.

Alternately, students with an IB diploma, an associate's degree, and 2 years of college credits (including specified courses) are also admissible

What is student life like?

There are many different groups and associations for international students. There are also international student nights, excursions, and a sponsorship program to help international students acclimate to the area.
