Why should I study here?

Kristianstad University was founded in 1977. Today there are about 14,000 students at the campus, situated just 10 minutes from the town centre. We provide education in Educational Sciences, Natural, Social and Environmental Sciences, Food, Health, and Nursing Care, Psychology, Sociology, and Social Work, Computer Sciences, Design, and Engineering, Economics and Human Resources.

What are the admissions criteria?

Sweden uses a centralized admissions process for all higher education programs.  Applicants apply online to the programs they are interested in. No entrance tests are required, as the basic admission criteria are a high school diploma and English proficiency. In addition, programs may have their own requirements for eligibility. Applicants also need to include a photocopy of their passport. Another thing to note, students who are in their final year of high school can not apply until after they graduate, since they don't have a diploma.  Given that the application deadline for international students is January 15th, most students will not be able to apply for fall admission directly after high school. Also of note-no matter how many programs an applicant applies to, they will get only one offer.  Applicants are first evaluated for their first choice school.  If they meet the eligibility requirements they are admitted.  If not, they are evaluated for their second choice school, and so on.

What is student life like?

Situated in the northeastern part of Skåne, Kristianstad is the main center of the region. At the University Campus, you can find everything you need within a short walking distance. Our campus is created from the idea that as a student, you will have access to modern information technology, inspiring meeting places, and good services. We offer a highly qualified faculty in a friendly atmosphere. There is a library, a restaurant, a café, the Student Union, a health center, and student dormitories all in one place. In the middle of the campus, you will find a spacious library with study rooms, computer rooms, and open spaces where you can read or relax. The campus is placed a short walk from the city center and just outside our doors are beautiful trails surrounded by trees, a variety of animals, and delta waters. Everyone can enjoy themselves in Kristianstad. Visit some of their sports arrangements (here you can watch the best handball team in Sweden). As a student at Kristianstad University, you’ve got really good opportunities to combine studies with sports and exercise. The range is varied from rock climbing to sailing. HKIF (our own sports club) helps arrange different workouts like dancing, football, or climbing. If you feel like exploring nature while working out you can always try hiking, surfing, or biking. Kristianstad Student Union ”KSK” influence the course schedule planning and affects the outcome of all decisions taken at Kristianstad University by having students from the student union representing the students in all meetings. A lot of resources are spent on helping students with education-oriented problems.
