Why should I study here?

Laurea University of Applied Sciences (Laurea UAS, formerly Vantaa University of Applied Sciences and Espoo-Vantaa University of Applied Sciences) began operating in Vantaa in 1991 as one of the first universities of applied sciences to be granted an experimental licence in Finland.

What are the admissions criteria?

Students apply using the joint application form on studyinfo.fi between January 10th-25th  Since a high school diploma is technically needed to apply, students who are in their final year of high school should check with the school to see if they could be considered for discretionary admission (which basically means that the school allows you to apply for provisional consideration).  Applicants from non-anglophone countries need to submit English proficiency test scores and all applicants need to include a photocopy of their passport.Finnish UAS programs require entrance exams which are held in April of each year.  There are several locations worldwide for the entrance exams, though some program/schools require that the exam is taken in Finland.  Some programs allow SAT scores to substitute for the entrance exam.

Housing options.

A HOAS home will create a good background for your studies and life in the Helsinki metropolitan area. Every year, HOAS provides a safe housing alternative to thousands of students. For exchange students, HOAS provides furnished flats. This service is tailor-made to ensure that there are furnished apartments available for exchange students who stay in the region for one term or for one full academic year. In the Helsinki region, the rental level is high and it is difficult to find affordable furnished flats for this kind of short term needs.
