From the school:The International Study Program in Management and Economics at the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg offers a range of full-time degrees  for International and German students taught entirely in English. Our degree programs include one bachelor's program, two master's programs, and one Ph.D. program. These programs, which are highly mathematically orientated, attract a cosmopolitan mix of students from various backgrounds since they are in tune with current trends towards the internationalization of teaching and research brought about by globalization. The academic philosophy at the Faculty of Economics and Management is anchored in rigorous application of the fundamentals of economic and managerial theory and stresses those teaching methods that enable students to develop their quantitative and qualitative capabilities. This kind of education incorporates analytical modeling approaches and teaches students to think strategically and goal oriented. In today's world, a quantitative orientation together with a global perspective has become an essential ingredient to succeed in professional careers. The curriculum of our study programs prepares students from all over the world to encounter challenging future responsibilities in professions within private and public sectors of their economies as well as for future scholarly research endeavors. Graduates of the International Study Programs have various career opportunities. They work in fields such as: managerial communication, organizational behavior, international management, human resource management, business policy advising, entrepreneurship, or economics, including banking and finance. The Faculty of Economics and Management emphasizes a convenient learning atmosphere in small lecture/seminar groups, multicultural and international exposure, highly experienced and renowned university teachers as well as international guest lecturers.

What are the admissions criteria?

Germany has changed their admissions requirements again, starting for the 2021-22 school year, and now accepts AP scores!  Students who want to apply to programs related to Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, and Economics need scores of 3+ in English. A foreign language that needs to be French, Spanish, Latin or German, Math or natural science which can be Calc, Bio, Chem, or both Physics C tests. In addition, I score in European History, American History, Computer Science, or Macro+Micro Economics. 

Students who want to apply for programs centered around Math, Science, and Technology need scores of 3+ in Math (specifically Calculus). Natural Science (Bio, Chem, or both Physics C tests). Language (French, Latin, German, Spanish, or English Lit or Lang/Comp). Addition score in European History, American History, Computer Science, or Macro+Micro Economics. 

Alternately, students with an IB diploma, an associate's degree, and 2 years of college credits (including specified courses) are also admissible

What is student life like?

The International Study Program offers a mentoring program that is specifically tailored to our students and their needs. Mentors provide new students with help for their transition into their university studies and life in Germany, including advice and assistance upon arrival.

Housing options.

The easiest way to get accommodation is a room in a dormitory on campus. They are provided by the "Studentenwerk". Student apartments are fully/partly or even un-furnished. They have a size of about 15 square meters. The rent for an apartment ranges from 250 € to 350 € according to the room type and furniture. 

Due to a surplus of apartments in the housing market, there are additionally a variety of affordable off-campus housing options available to students. Overall, the cost of living in Magdeburg is very affordable.
