Why should I study here?

On June 18, 1990, the Catalan Parliament gave the go-ahead for the creation of a new public university in Catalonia, Pompeu Fabra University, inspired by the principles of freedom, democracy, justice, equality, independence and plurality. From its beginnings, this young academic institution set itself this main objective: to train responsible professionals and citizens fully committed to civic values.

What are the admissions criteria?

The school says students from the education systems of EU countries or countries with reciprocal agreements: meet university admission requirements in their country of origin and apply for accreditation for admission to Spanish universities.

Students from the education systems of countries without reciprocal agreements: have your upper secondary education qualifications officially recognized for the Spanish system. Applicants also need to include a photocopy of their passport. Further information on admission and application requirements

Housing options.

The school says: Housing Service The UPF collaborates with the Barcelona Centre Universitari (BCU), an organism offering services relating to extracurricular university life for the community of foreign students studying in Barcelona. Through the BCU, Resa Housing offers complete housing services for international students and researchers. Student Resident HallsThis is a good option because, in addition to housing, they also offer a series of services that allow students to focus on academics and university life. The rooms in the university's student resident halls range from 316-424 euros per month. Students can have weekly room cleaning for an additional 33 euros a month and sheet and towel delivery for 25 rues a month. These residences also offer cultural events, educational activities and sports teams. There are many other student residences in Barcelona. Some have a pool, gym, or meal plan options. Rooms without meal plans can be found from 374-600 euros per month. Other ResourcesHousing is a free student-to-student housing platform that lets you rent accommodation from students who are in an exchange programme abroad. Besides, it allows you to offer your room to foreign students in your home city. In order to log in, incoming students must enter their UPF e-mail addresses. Pompeu Fabra University is involved in an alternative housing programme: Programa Vive y Convive [Living Together]. This initiative promotes coexistence with elderly people living alone. Students involved in this programme benefit from free accommodation and other services.  Online Search EngineNuroa is a real estate search engine grouping together all apartment, house and room rental or sale offers from all portals on a single web. This housing service allows you to search its database and make reservations online for free, can assist you in different languages (Catalan, Spanish, English, French, and Italian) and rounds off its services with free legal advice on rental contracts. It also provides a short-term rental contract service. In addition, its honoraria are much lower than average (maximum 200 euros).
