Technische Universität Dortmund (TU Dortmund University) is a public research university located in Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It was founded in 1968 and has since grown to become one of the largest and most prestigious technical universities in Germany.
The university is consistently ranked among the best universities in Germany and the world. In the 2024 edition of the QS World University Rankings, TU Dortmund University ranked 294th globally and 10th in Germany. According to the 2023 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, the university was ranked 501-600th in the world and held its position as the 10th best university in the country. Moreover, in the 2023 ARWU World Rankings, TU Dortmund University secured the 401-500th position worldwide and was ranked 10th nationally.
TU Dortmund University has produced many notable alumni over the years, including Nobel laureate Hartmut Michel, German Minister of Research and Education Anja Karliczek, and CEO of Siemens Roland Busch.
