Why should I study here?

Many of the 21st century’s global challenges associated with areas such as climate, energy, health, poverty, and violation of human rights observe neither disciplinary boundaries nor geographic borders.UiO aims to make a significant contribution to the knowledge base that is needed in order to address the major global challenges of today. The University of Oslo was founded in 1811 as the first in Norway. Located mainly on Blindern Campus in the northern part of Oslo, UiO has eight faculties. The capital university is also home to the Viking Ship Museum, the Historical Museum and the Natural History Museum; a main library with 3.6 million holdings; and a wide range of associated units and centres.

What are the admissions criteria?

What is student life like?

The university's buildings are spread out over four parts of Oslo. The main campus, Blindern, is located on the western outskirts of the city center. A variety of activities are available for individual exercise or under the supervision of fully qualified instructors, in both indoor and outdoor facilities. This includes the sand volleyball court, the soccer field and table tennis. Equipment is available at the Dormitory reception.

In Norway, many people are active members of voluntary organizations. The organizations serve as a meeting place and the tradition of voluntary work is very common in Norwegian society. Joining a student organization allows you to participate and make friends during your stay in Oslo. You can be part of a team and gain experience that is important for your personal development as an exchange student. All student organizations are initiated and run by students themselves.
