Why should I study here?

The University of Sheffield International College is a dedicated facility where international students come to prepare for the challenges of academic life. Our programmes, taught by experts in international education, will help you achieve the grades, English language skills, and learning techniques needed to succeed in your studies and future career. Once you complete the programme and achieve the required grades, you can enter your chosen degree at the University of Sheffield.

What are the admissions criteria?

To qualify, students should possess a high school diploma (or equivalent) with good performance or an IB diploma. Students from non-Anglophone countries are required to prove proficiency by providing one of the following test scores: IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL internet-based 79 or paper-based 550 or any other recognized certificate proving advanced knowledge of English (Level C2/"proficiency”) or CAE (Grade C and above) or any other equivalent qualification.

What is student life like?

The campus is set around the city centre, with all departments a short walk from each other, or a quick ride on the bus or tram. The International College is based in one of the newest campus buildings near the heart of the city centre. Our students have access to all of the University’s outstanding facilities, including the Students Union, voted best in the UK for 9 years running, the Goodwin Sports Centre, the new Diamond building an award-winning Information Commons.

Sheffield is the greenest major city in the UK, with plenty of parks, tree-lined streets, and the Peak District National Park nearby. Local people are known for being friendly and international students are treated to a Big Sheffield Welcome.
