Why should I study here?

Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1987  by Dutch entrepreneur Williem H Nijkamp. The school quickly grew into an expertise centre for Banking and Insurance and Real Estate Management, providing these industries in the Netherlands with hundreds of graduates. (See 25 Years of Higher Education)

What are the admissions criteria?

Wittenborg has 3 different entry periods each semester and applicants are to apply 6-8 weeks before any of the entry blocks. Students must have a high school education which is equivalent to the Dutch "HAVO".  For most countries (including the US), this is a regular high school diploma.   Any three-year programs require VWO equivalence (IB diploma, 4 AP scores of 3+, A levels, 1 year of college). Country-specific requirements for the levels can be found here.

What is student life like?

Wittenborg University has two campuses in Apeldoorn, an Undergraduate Centre and a Postgraduate Centre. Both are situated directly beside the station, both within 3 minutes walk from the trains, busses and taxi services. Both campuses are also within 10 minutes walking distance from the shopping centre of Apeldoorn, the restaurants, the market, the city hall and all the central facilities the town has to offer, including museums, library, theatres and bars. The city of Apeldoorn has many facilities for those wanting to participate in organised sports: Soccer, Volleyball, Hockey, Tennis, Rugby, Golf and Squash, Boxing, Karate, Tai Chi and other Martial Arts, Swimming, Diving, Outdoor Rowing, Wittenborg.

Students are active in their own sports group, which organises outside activities such as soccer and basketball in the nearby parks. They make arrangements through a private Facebook page for students and staff, which is given to students during their introduction day starting at Wittenborg.

Scholarships & Funding

Non-EU students can apply for the 5000 euro merit-based Holland Scholarship.

Housing options.

The school does help arrange housing which ranges from 420-450 euros per month for a room in the student residences.

Additional notes.

The Universities of Applied Sciences are quite reputable in the Netherlands and provide a way for students without the IB/AP requirements held by the Universities to study in this very cool country.  That said, students should be aware of extra requirements that may be necessary when applying for graduate school.
