Student Life
Most teaching and research activities at Stockholm University take place in the Frescati area just north of Stockholm city, which stretches from the Bergius Botanic Garden in the north to Sveaplan in the south. It is located in the middle of the world’s first national city park, and the area is characterized by beautiful nature, interesting architecture, and modern art. Stockholm University is sometimes called a “campus university in a park environment”, surrounded by the inlets Brunnsviken and Lilla Värtan. The area has a diverse population of both foreign and domestic trees, especially old oaks. Together with rich herbal flora and fauna, this creates a sense of old parkland. Stockholm University rents and manages furnished rooms and apartments which are owned by other landlords in Stockholm. These are available to international students at Stockholm University. Student unions are membership organizations with the purpose to represent the common interests of students. Their important assignment is to guarantee that students can influence their education, but they also have a major role in the social aspects of university life: from parliamentary decisions to course planning, to housing and coffee prices.
Housing
The Housing Office manages a limited number of rooms in Stockholm. Due to the high demand and shortage of accommodation in Stockholm, the office cannot guarantee accommodation for international students. The student union and university can direct students to various services that can help them find housing. Student housing can generally be obtained for around 400 euros per month.

Notes
Stockholm University is located in the middle of Sweden's first national city park, which is ten minutes north of the city center. The campus holds modern architecture and lots of green space-there are three arboretums on campus alone. The campus is big, but there is actually an app to help students find their way around.
