Description
The University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague (UCT Prague) is a public university located in Prague, Czech Republic. It is a traditional university with a strong focus on technical chemistry, chemical and biochemical technologies, pharmaceuticals, materials and chemical engineering, the food industry, and environmental studies .
The university offers a variety of bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs in these fields. The programs are taught in both Czech and English. UCT Prague has a strong international reputation and attracts students from all over the world. The university is relatively small, with about 4,000 students, which allows for a close-knit community atmosphere.

Student Life
The Erasmus Student Club (ESC) is a member of the international Erasmus Student Network(ESN). The main aim of this student group is to make international students' stay abroad more enjoyable—they organize Orientation week, trips, parties, and sports activities, but also assist students with administrative affairs and other similar matters and they are in charge of Tandem learning and the Buddy program. Housing
Students can choose to accept a room in the public student residences for the university. These are quite basic with shared rooms and facilities but cost under 100 euros a month. For just a bit more, between 220-260 euros a month, students can stay in the nicer private student residences. Rooms in apartments generally cost around 370 euros per month.

Notes
This school was a lot easier to get around than many of the other public universities I visited in the area. It is a much smaller school than most public universities in Prague, with just over 3,000 students. Everyone I spoke to (from the information desk to asking students for directions) spoke English, so I was surprised to learn that only 21 students out of 3100 were non-Czech! Of course, there are additional students from other countries there on exchange each year that are not included in that number.
