University of Twente
Description
The campus at Twente offers the type of campus that Americans are more familiar with. It is a residential campus with many dining options, a grocery shop, a student shop, a bike repair shop, and a computer store.
Student Life
The Sports Center at Twente has just about every type of fitness option you can think of. From things I've never heard of (like underwater hockey) to shooting, cycling, cross fit, fencing, rowing, soccer basketball, martial arts, boxing, pilates, spinning, Zumba, TRX, tennis, and yoga. Students pay 40 euros for a union card that gives them access to the sports center, as well as a number of other discounts around campus and town.
In addition to 38 different sports associations, there are 15 different international student associations, in addition to 19 cultural societies. There are also study associations connected to the student's department of study that provide academic and social opportunities.
Housing
The housing for international students has been arranged by the international office on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are housing options on and off campus and range from singles with shared facilities to studios and apartments. Housing costs are usually in the range of 275–475 euros per month. On-campus housing is guaranteed and mandatory for ATLAS students in their first two years of study. The cost is 455 euros per month for a single bedroom with facilities (kitchen, common room, bathroom) that are shared by 5–9 other students.
