A sociology degree will start your journey to a career that makes a difference. Our expert lecturers will help you explore how our experiences are shaped by class, gender and race – and how this is changing in the 21st century.
This BSc Sociology course examines our world and seeks to understand how identities, relationships and practices are formed. You will have an opportunity to study a wide range of topics that include:
- theoretical approaches and different perspectives in sociology
- social inequalities such as class, gender, sexuality, age, race and ethnicity, disability, and global position
- new forms of community and identity
- change and transformation in social lives
- justice and injustice
- complex social problems and public policy solutions
- research methods in sociology (including quantitative and qualitative techniques)
As part of your degree you can:
- study abroad for a semester at a partner university in Brazil, Canada or China
- study a minor subject, such as psychology, alongside your main degree
- study modules from other areas, such as languages or international relations
- make a difference by getting involved with our Social Impact Lab
Notes
Applicants who have completed the High School Diploma but do not have the relevant subject tests to apply to one of our Science or Engineering programmes may be eligible to apply to our Foundation programme.
UK students pay €10,850.
Admissions Requirements
High School Diploma with three AP tests at scores of 544 OR Three SAT subject tests at scores of 700, 650, 650 or a combination of the two. GPA of 3.0 or better is required!
We can also consider excellent grades in Honors or College-level classes or ACT or SAT scores in lieu of AP or SAT subject tests on a case-by-case basis.
