Jenn founded Beyond the States in 2015 due to her own frustrations with the lack of information, and misinformation, when exploring European higher ed options for her own teens. She spent an entire year visiting accredited universities with English-taught degree programs throughout Europe and then compiled all she gleaned into an exhaustive database and supplemental resources. From there she authored a book on the subject and is an internationally known expert on the topic of college in Europe.
Jenn is a native of Chicago, but has lived in North Carolina since 2001. She and her family recently lived in Portugal for two years (arriving right as the pandemic hit...) and now reside in Durham, North Carolina. Her son will graduate with a degree in International Relations from AAU (in Prague) this winter. Having experienced life abroad through half of her high school years, her daughter chose to stay closer to home and is studying Criminology at North Carolina State University.
When she’s not traveling, you will find Jenn hanging out on her back porch with a glass of wine, a book, and her French Bulldogs.
