Vallendar
About the City
Centrally located between the major centers, you can reach Vallendar (with almost direct motorway access) from Frankfurt, Cologne, or Trier in just under an hour. just like with the Intercity via Koblenz (and bus 8/8a). The B 42 runs right through the village.
Discover a small Rhenish town with the flair of an ancient past and the typical charm of this region. Old townhouses from the 17th and 18th centuries, often in half-timbered houses with elaborate carvings, shape the cityscape and invite you to take a historical tour of the city. From the listed Kaiser Friedrich Tower from 1899, you have a wide view of the Rhine Valley, the Hunsrück, and the Eifel Mountains.
Vallendar offers a wide range of leisure facilities. A leisure and adventure pool, a recreation center with mini golf, a sports stadium, tennis facilities, fishing opportunities, and the central location for excursion destinations on the Rhine, Moselle, Eifel, and Hunsrück offer you a varied stay. At the foot of the Westerwald, extensive forests invite you to go hiking. In the middle of the Rhine, across from Vallendar, is the island of Niederwerth, the only river island in Germany with a village community. Especially in the asparagus and strawberry seasons, it is a magnet for gourmets. The old monastery church from the 15th century, one of the best-preserved and most important sacred buildings on the Middle Rhine, is well worth seeing.
