Profile
The programme offers two language options: Greek and Latin. In the course of your studies, you will acquire knowledge about language and texts on an advanced level. Thus, your knowledge about Greek and Roman culture will increase. On this programme you will study your chosen classical language, from linguistic, literary and cultural perpectives. As compared to the Bachelor’s level, on the Master’s level you will develop a deeper understanding through specialized courses and the Master’s thesis, but also a wider perspective through extensive reading of various texts. An important part of the programme is to familiarize yourself with Greek and Latin as research subjects. You will achieve this through participation in the Classics seminar and through the writing of the Master’s thesis. The Master’s programme consists of two parts. The first part consists of courses in which you study Greek or Latin language and literature, especially through extensive reading of texts in the original language. To a certain extent you may also choose courses from other subject areas, or you may take a semester abroad. The Master’s thesis constitutes the second part. It is an independent, written study of 25-50 pages (30 ECTS credits).
