Profile
Economics is all about strategic choices and how they affect big decisions. You’ll need to be able to both focus on the minute and see the big picture. The curriculum focuses on six courses: two foundational courses, on methodological course, two specialisation courses, and one elective. The foundation courses are the same for all economics students, introducing you to the central concepts of both micro- and macroeconomics. The methodological course focuses on economic analysis tools including data analysis, statistics, case studies, and policy evaluation tools. The specialisation courses examine detailed knowledge in a chosen area, allowing your education to more specifically follow your personal and career goals. The programme is flexible, giving you the freedom to combine courses from different specialisations. The Master’s programme in Economics offers three top-level academic specialisations:-Education and Labour Economics (You will learn to analyse questions with respect to education and labour economics both from a theoretical and empirical perspective. You will analyse practical problems, through accessing unique and comprehensive data.)-Global challenges and macroeconomic policy (This specialisation gives you the opportunity to learn how macroeconomic policy by national or international agencies and governments can address these challenges.)-Market regulation and design (The first theme of the specialisation is how and why markets in the modern economy are being regulated. Different forms of market regulation will be addressed, and the arguments both for and against regulation will be examined, with a particular focus on competition policy. The second theme of the specialisation is design of markets and mechanisms.)
