Profile
The programme is non-consecutive, and open to Bachelor’s graduates in broad-based general business studies or in any standard engineering specialisation (civil, electrical, chemical, mechanical, commercial, or environmental). It is meant to prepare you for international work in the changing and networked markets of the future. We are proud to say that we work in cooperation with all three Faculties in Wismar – Business, Design, and Engineering – to present you with a realistic and holistic picture of the main sources of ideas, innovations and methods driving economic growth. We are equally proud of our highly international student body and the opportunities you’ll have to meet people from all continents. The Master’s in International Management course integrates Bachelor’s degree graduates into teams communicating on the basis of shared linguistic, mathematical, and computer-based skills. Such skills are not taught on the course, but are assumed to be there, acquired by you in your undergraduate studies. From this, we build dynamic and creative international teams. This degree course by its nature requires a high level of openness to the concept of human difference. This skills check-list is to help you pre-assess your own suitability as a candidate. Ask yourself if you have the following skills:High emotional and intellectual acceptance of the concept of the personal equality and equal rights of all people, including such acceptance of; all religious and other belief differences including the right not to follow any or a particular religion, racial, ethnic, or place of origin differences, gender equality, age equality, sexual orientation differences (including homosexuality and transgender sexuality), high tolerance of disabilities in others, and a commitment to the rational discussion of all such concepts (all essential personal qualities to succeed in the programme). The competent and independent use of Microsoft Office applications, in particular EXCEL, WORD, and PowerPoint, or of appropriate freeware equivalents for the processing of text, diagrams, graphs, charts, and numerical data (highly recommended; or something you’ll have to catch up).
