Applicants to the programme are encouraged to apply early as student numbers on the programme are limited. With Europe and the rest of the World reeling from economic uncertainty, rapid development and growth in areas such as the regulatory environment and the financial sector are leading to an explosion in transactions across all private and public sectors. As these transactions increase, we see the merging of legal and financial professionals to undertake facilitation of these transactions and an ever-increasing sophistication in both legal and financial content. Frequently, lawyers and financial specialists face a challenge in understanding each other in order to originate and execute deals. The importance of emerging markets and their specific country context are challenging as well as putting the focus on appropriate risk management of these ventures. A strong, in-depth understanding and working practice have become a necessity when operating in those industries and a prerequisite when embracing opportunities in emerging markets and a globalising economy overall. The LL.M in Law and Finance aims to address these challenges by arming both law specialists and finance specialists with relevant knowledge in both areas to facilitate mutual understanding and – eventually – improved structuring and assessment of opportunities and transactions, at the same time contributing to overall success in business through sustainability, value creation, and strategic commitment.
