The Master of Library and Information Studies is designed to prepare university graduates for careers in the library and information profession.In the MLIS programme, you will learn how to organise, curate, disseminate and communicate information in local and global contexts. You will learn how to store, retrieve, and share information by understanding, applying, and designing best practices, standards and systems in the information world. You can also tailor your study to suit your career aspirations in pathways such as academic librarianship, public information services, and cultural institutions.Careers & EmployabilityThe Master of Library and Information Studies (MLIS) programme is accredited by Library Association of Ireland and is recognised internationally. Students are qualified to work as library and information professionals in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and throughout Europe. Recent graduates have dynamic careers as librarians in the higher education and the public sectors, as well as information officers in commercial settings.ICS also has vibrant research programmes and activities. Some MLIS students continue their studies to take PhD or MLitt degrees at the School.
