The University Master’s Degree in Mathematics and Applications of the Autonomous University of Madrid has been taught since the 2006-2007 academic year. Its main objective is to provide the interested student with advanced and rigorous mathematical training. It is articulated by a common nucleus and two specialties:- Initiation to Research;- Applications of Mathematics.Both specialties develop knowledge and skills in advanced areas of mathematics that prepare for the start of the research activities of the doctorate.The specific objectives of the Master are:- Deepen the knowledge, nature, methods and purposes of various fields of mathematics;- Develop analytical and abstraction skills, intuition and logical and rigorous thinking in advanced areas of mathematics and its application in scientific, interdisciplinary or applied contexts;- Train for the use of the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired, with a high degree of autonomy, in the definition and approach of new problems and in the search for their solutions both in academic and professional contexts;- Prepare for further specialized studies, both in the field of mathematical research and in other professional developments.
