The English-language master’s degree programme in Modern Indian Studies provides in-depth specialized knowledge of the subject, the ability to work independently on subject specific and interdisciplinary research and to apply gained insights. The degree programme qualifies students for a successful career by provision of expertise, methodological and analytical skills and forms the basis for further studies in doctoral degree programs.For prospective India specialists: This English-language Master’s degree programme unites perspectives from the humanities, the social sciences and economics. In addition to academic knowledge specific to India, you will acquire well-founded essential knowledge from Regional and Cultural Studies. This will be consolidated by a visit to India, integrated into the degree programme. Topics taught include social, cultural and economic phenomena of modern India. The programme is supported by the interdisciplinary Centre for Modern Indian Studies (CeMIS).

Admissions Requirements
Applicants should have a bachelor's degree with a major in Indian Studies, Indology, or any other social, economic, or humanistic science, including geography. Applicants from non-anglophone countries should provide proof of English proficiency. The application deadline for non-EU students is May 15.
