The degree programme aims to form psychologistsequipped with scientific, methodological, and operational tools necessary to deal with the problems faced by individuals, groups andinstitutions/organisations in the context of “individual and socialwell-being”.In order to achieve these objectives, learningactivities in the first year will be aimed at delivering information andknowledge on neural plasticity as abasis for adaptive flexibility in relation to the environment.In addition,students will learn about thedevelopmental processes that give rise to individual wellbeing and the typicaland atypical developmental risk and protective factors. They will also be presented with models for assessing mental health inaccordance with a clinimetric approach. With regard to social wellbeing,students will learn about the factors that contribute to the formation andmanifestation of social prejudice as an impediment to wellbeing and socialinclusivity of the large variety of human groups, with a specific reference tomigrants. This theoretical and methodological knowledge will be consolidatedthrough the study of qualitative and quantitative methods for statisticalanalysis and the psychometric assessment of measures used to examine thephenomena addressed by thetheoretical-methodological approaches. Students will also study theanthropology of migration and cognitive approaches to wellbeing. They will also acquire the necessaryskills to design research and plan interventions inthe areas outlined above.In thesecond year, students will further investigate the neural correlates ofindividual well-being and will study the methods for assessing cognitiveprocesses in multicultural contexts. They will also be presented with measures tacklingwellbeing in clinical settings, psychopathologies in childhood and adolescence,promotion of individual and social wellbeing in work organisations and the factors, strategies and processesof social inclusivity of different groups in modern society with aspecific focus on migrants. Students will have the chance to furtherinvestigate one of the topics covered during the two-year programme in theirdissertation.
