This postgraduate qualification combines theory and practice to provide you with the professional accreditation needed for a career in social work or a related profession.
Aimed at graduates from all disciplines, it reflects the multi-disciplinary, professional context of 21st century social work.
The course will provide you with a fundamental understanding of the theory and practice that underpins professional social work as a profession. Over the course of your studies you will split your time between learning on campus and learning in practice placements.
A key aspect of the course is how we engage and involve people who have experience of using services and social work professionals in our teaching.
We emphasise research-based practice and our teaching team includes leading researchers in a broad range of areas, including health and social care integration, disability, criminal justice, and child protection. Their expertise informs every aspect of our teaching.
We will help you develop a strong professional identity, enabling you to function competently and confidently in multi-disciplinary settings, and to strive for social justice.
We have links with a wide range of agencies across the statutory, voluntary, and private sectors.

Admissions Requirements
Bachelor Degree with 2.4 - 2.99 / 4.0. You also will need: high school Mathematics or equivalent.
Your personal statement is an important part of your application. It is important that you put time and thought into your personal statement and that you present it in a professional manner. You need to be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of social work and your motivation to train as a social worker. You should show that you have an understanding of working with people and of the skills, and values that are pertinent to the role of a social worker. Relevant work experience (paid and/or voluntary work included) is not required but could strengthen your application. Other voluntary or work experience can be considered if you are able to demonstrate an ability to transfer your learning and experience and to manage complex relationships in personal or work contexts. You should demonstrate this in your personal statement.
