The MSc Spatial Demography is the first postgraduate degree of its kind in Ireland. This interdisciplinary programme provides unique perspectives on the population processes that shape modern society. Bridging the technical and theoretical, this course equips students with skills to analyse the population trends that shape current and future population trajectories – fertility, mortality, ageing, health and migration. Combining key skills-orientated modules in data programming and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with population analytics and challenges, students are provided a comprehensive foundation in a range of transferable and highly valued labour markets skills. These skills are uniquely relevant in multiple professional domains that understand the need for expert knowledge in key demographic issues when addressing future economic and social development challenges.Careers & EmployabilityThe MSc Spatial Demography is designed to equip graduates with the skills and knowledge necessary to access employment in health research, demography, data and spatial-data analytics, data-driven public policy, and demographic data collection. Demography and population studies prepare graduates for careers in a wide variety of areas such as local and international organisations, civil society, government department / ministries, local government, NGOs, research organisations, health care companies, academia, private consultancy and many other areas.
