Profile
The MSc programme in Water and Environmental Engineering aims to educate and train civil engineers with advanced knowledge and technical competences to solve complex problems, build facilities and provide services in water- and environment-related disciplines helping to develop and safeguard our environment and society. Engineers are able to work professionally in complex conditions and deliver technologically and scientifically sound solutions based on understanding of processes and interactions of addressed engineering problems and challenges. They find employment opportunities and career prospects with profit- and non-profit employers such as contractors, engineering and consultancy companies, water administrators, governmental bodies and academic institutions. The two-years programme offers three specializations (tracks). Students decide on their specialisation at the start of their study. All specializations comprise a common block of compulsory core courses providing a broad fundamental basis (courses related to hydraulics, hydrology, risk analysis, water quality and water reservoir management). Moreover, each specialization comprises specific compulsory courses further developing knowledge of physical processes and engineering applications and skills for effective engineering design in the field of a selected specialization. A list of programme courses is completed with a selection of elective courses of individual interest (courses from the other specializations). Furthermore, the programme contains a series of invited lectures, a track-based project and the MSc thesis. The programme includes training in high quality laboratories to support the interaction between theory and practice.specialization – Hydraulic Engineeringspecialization – Environmental Engineering and Sciencespecialization – Water Management
