Central European Studies
Profile
The study programme will offer studies of foreign languages of the Central European area and the cross-cultural studies of the regions of Central Europe in the bachelor degree. The language of instruction is English.The main target of the studies is to master the languages, as well as social and cultural aspects of the Central European area. The graduates will have mastered at least three languages of the region (with the options of Hungarian, German, Polish, or Slovenian) at the level corresponding with the needs of general communication both in spoken and written form. Training in languages will concentrate on mastering elementary skills in translating and the techniques used in simultaneous and consecutive interpreting. Students will learn how to translate written texts in both translation directions in common communication, how to interpret common speeches in both directions, and how to provide guide services aimed at area studies. During their studies they will master the general competence of area studies, i.e. global knowledge of the issues of cross-cultural communication skills. At the same time students will master the elementary theoretical and methodological knowledge of linguistics and literary science. They will get acquainted with the history and culture of the region of Central Europe.

Notes
If the student is a full-time student of the Faculty of Arts, Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia and the studies are completed in 3 academic years, there is no tuition.
