Profile
The EECS is a bachelor’s program taught in English designed to provide undergraduate students with a quality education. Graduates will be prepared for master’s degree studies at universities in the Czech Republic as well as abroad. Combining Electrical Engineering (EE) and Computer Science (CS) in one joint program has been motivated by strong demand for interdisciplinary experts in information technologies, computer science, and electrical engineering. Graduates from this EECS program will have a competitive advantage compared to students from traditional EE or CS study programs. The EECS program integrates theoretical and practical training and cross-and transdisciplinary aspects into a 3-year program.EECS graduates get broad and very versatile theoretical preparation in fundamental engineering disciplines such as both discrete and continuous mathematics, physics, algorithms, and programming. The overall aim of the EECS study program is to enable students to select from a variety of career options. Graduates become proficient in electrical engineering and power engineering with extended knowledge of economics and management, software and embedded systems development, computer science, and information technologies. The high flexibility of the EECS program allows students to configure their own study profiles. EECS graduates will be able to start a career not only in industry but also continue in master’s degree programs at CTU FEE and worldwide. Students focusing on CS will learn one high-level and one low-level programming language and will be trained in algorithms and problem-solving. Students will also get familiar with computer hardware elements. They will learn about automatic control, digital signals, and communication. A graduate of the program will be able to control electronic devices by programming, including reading data, analyzing it thoroughly, and designing a control or decision-making algorithm. Students focusing on EE will be prepared for a broad range of tasks, starting from simple electronic circuit design and measurement to advanced embedded system design and microprocessor programming, as well as knowledge of power engineering, electric drives, and electrical distribution and power transmission systems. Students will learn the fundamentals of electromagnetic field theory, the principles of operation of electron devices, properties, and types of materials and technologies for electrical engineering. Students will get acquainted with microcontroller programming, the processing of continuous and discrete-time signals, and the design of analog and digital filters.
