English Language and Culture

English Laguage and Culture takes three years. Each year comprises four 10-week periods. Each period concludes with a week of examinations. In your first year, you will have an avarage of 12 contact hours per week.In the second year, you study English Language and Culture in greater depth. You can also choose from various specialisations. Each specialisation consists of four courses. During your degree programme, not a day will go by without you learning a new English word. In Utrecht, one of the ways you learn the language is by reading great authors  ̶  not just by studying grammar. You study the influences of social and political developments. This fusion of language, literature and culture does not make learning English easier, but it does make it considerably more interesting.
