Profile
Studying medicine gives you a clear path to becoming a doctor, but what if you’d like the opportunity to study a specific topic in more detail or explore a more lab-based or theoretical area of medicine? This is where an intercalated degree could be of benefit.
With an intercalated degree you can spend a year studying a topic of interest. This allows you to:
- become more informed about different options for your career post-graduation
- gain new transferable skills, including research skills
- get a deeper insight into a subject area that interests you
As the world becomes more globalised, international health is an area of huge importance for healthcare professionals worldwide. This course will give you an insight into international relations and politics from around the world, while also allowing you to explore the cycle of poverty in Scotland and the effect that has on more local populations. You’ll learn about the impact healthcare policy can have on individuals and groups and how healthcare compares across the world.
You will also have the opportunity to work with a hospital we have strong links with in Malawi – some of our students have even travelled here to carry out research projects and have gained an insight into how healthcare works in a low-income setting.
Notes
Tuition fees for International students will increase by no more than 5% per year for the length of your course.
