Make a positive difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities with Kingston University’s BSc in Learning Disabilities Nursing (Hons). This three-year, full-time program equips you with the knowledge, skills, and compassion to become a registered learning disabilities nurse, a vital role supporting people with lifelong conditions that affect learning.
Focus on Practical Learning:
- Simulation Labs: Gain experience in simulated scenarios before working with real clients in clinical placements.
- Clinical Placements: Complete supervised placements in various settings, such as specialist care homes, supported living environments, and community services.
- Interprofessional Collaboration: Learn to collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals like therapists, social workers, and medical staff to provide holistic care.
Upon graduation, you will be eligible to register as a nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) in the UK, opening doors to rewarding careers in various settings, including:
- Specialist learning disability care services
- NHS hospitals and community teams supporting people with learning disabilities
- Educational settings with students who have learning disabilities
- Residential care homes
- Advocacy and support organizations

For non-EU students it is recommended to apply before the deadline.
Application deadline for EU students is mid January.
Tuition fee for UK students is €10,850.
Admissions Requirements
American High School / Secondary School Diploma with minimum of 3.0 GPA.
Additional requirements:
Grade 3 or above in at least two Advanced Placement Tests
OR: SAT Subject test in above subject area, with a score of 550+
OR: Honours class credits or college credits in the subject areas, with a score of B.
In some cases, ACT results of 26 or higher will be considered. Please enquire with the Faculty.
Students with the Diploma but no AP work, SAT Subject scores, Honours class or College Credits may apply for a Foundation programme
Additional requirements:
Wherever possible candidates are encouraged to gain practical work experience in a care setting prior to undertaking the programme.
All suitable applicants are required to attend an online interview. This includes a series of short value-based questions, tasks or scenarios.
Admission is subject to occupational health screening and Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) enhanced check including checks against the Adult and Child Workforce Barring lists if you are offered and accept a place on the course.
