Southampton has been one of Britain’s most important naval and shipbuilding centres since the Middle Ages. This course combines mechanical engineering skills with a specialist knowledge of naval architecture and marine engineering.
It is ideal for those who want to work in the varied and exciting field of Maritime Engineering, Maritime Engineering looks at the design, construction and testing of ships and ocean structures. These could be for transport, recreation or harnessing marine resources.
You’ll get a broad mechanical engineering degree, with a focus on maritime engineering.
You’ll study:

In your final year, you can study advanced naval architecture and you’ll complete an individual research project.

Notes
Applicants who have completed the High School Diploma but do not have the relevant subject tests to apply to one of our Science or Engineering programmes may be eligible to apply to our Foundation programme.
UK students pay €10,850.
Admissions Requirements
High School Diploma with three AP tests at scores of 554 OR Three SAT subject tests at scores of 700, 700, 650 or a combination of the two. GPA of 3.1 or better is required!
We can also consider excellent grades in Honors or College-level classes or ACT or SAT scores in lieu of AP or SAT subject tests on a case-by-case basis.
