This programme is based on studies of natural sciences, biology, medicine and basic principles of primary eye care service. The Bachelor programme is the first step in the professional optometrist education scheme in Latvia. The programme offers extensive profile studies of natural sciences including organic chemistry, biology, calculus, physics for natural sciences, optics, basics of human anatomy, general physiology, ophthalmic optics, microbiology, biochemistry, anatomy and physiology of the eye, physiology of vision, optometric instruments, refractive defects, binocular vision and others. The thesis topic should be chosen carefully with the supervisor’s assistance for further research. The graduates of the programme can continue their education in Master’s degree programmes. This program prepares competitive graduates with profound knowledge and skills in optometry for both the Latvian and European labour markets.
Admissions Requirements
General secondary school diploma/certificate with a grades in Mathematics or Physics or Chemistry or Biology must be no less than 6 in a 10 point grading system, Motivation letter, CV, Passport copy. As a part of the admission process applicants will be asked to participate in an online interview.
