Profile
This program is focused on modern measurement techniques, instrumentation, and computer science. Students learn basic math and physics disciplines, as well as chemistry at an introductory level. Technical applications are stressed. This program aims at the programming and usage of computers for measurements, including digital data processing and practical applications. Scientific activities include research into the resonance and spectral properties of quantum systems, and the application of the methods of quantum chaos to various problems, e. g. describing the reflection of very low-frequency signals from the ionosphere. Phenomena in the primary phase of photosynthesis are currently being investigated from the point of view of many-particle quantum mechanics. The transfer of excitation energy is modeled in the photosynthetic systems of purple bacteria. Methods familiar from mathematical physics are exploited to analyze time series of biomedical origin. In particular, we deal with the EEG and so-called ballistocardiographical data.
