Profile
Physics is a ‘hard’ science: it is concerned with hard figures, precise and pure measurements. These are used to produce models and explain natural phenomena. The Bachelor’s programme in Physics lasts three years. During your 1st year, you will study basic subjects such as linear algebra and relativity. You will also take practical courses. After this year, you can choose between three specializations:General PhysicsThere are threefields of interest: theoretical physics describes and explains nature in a mathematical manner. Nano physics studies materials on the nanometre scale. Particle physics deals with the smallest building stones of materials. You will be introduced to fundamental questions concerning antimatter, but you will also look into the applications for nuclear energy and medicine.Energy and SustainabilityWhat is the physics behind the various processes used in the present and (possible) future forms of energy? How can we assure sufficient energy availability for future generations?Life and HealthHow does a CT scan works and what are the effects of radiation? Life and Health deals with medical research and addresses biophysics as well as technique.
Notes
The Admissions Board will determine whether your background knowledge in these subjects is sufficient to start the Bachelor's degree programme of your choice.Biology and Chemistry are not mandatory but highly recommended.
Admissions Requirements
