The first year of study provides intensive training in basic areas of psychology, including: developmental, social, and cognitive psychology. Students also learn about emotions, motivations and individual differences. Additionally, they acquire basic skills in statistics and research methodology and develop academic and cross-cultural competencies, thanks to the multicultural and multilingual environment at SWPS University.During the second year, the majority of modules focus on four thematic areas: Behavioral Studies, Conflict Resolution and Management, Mind-Communication-Technology, and Cross-Cultural Psychology. Students are also introduced to psychopathology and psychometrics. They learn how to measure behavioral change and conduct other measurement procedures, for example, behavioral assessment. They develop communication skills, gain knowledge about interpersonal relations and conflict management, including negotiation and mediation competencies. In the course of the third year, students continue to expand their knowledge in the four thematic areas that were first introduced in the previous year. They also choose their thesis advisor and attend a Bachelor Thesis Seminar. Additionally, during the second and third year of study, students choose 5 elective modules, aligned with their interests, and learn two additional foreign languages. Moreover, students develop their knowledge in a variety of areas, including: visual communication, psychology of leadership, and psychology of acculturation and economic migrations. They learn how to use advanced tools, for example an eye tracker. They are also able to apply behavioral techniques to various populations and problems. Furthermore, thanks to the international student population at SWPS University, students gain multicultural awareness and learn how to function in a multilingual environment.
