Technical University Chemnitz (TUC) is a public research university located in Chemnitz, Germany. It was founded in 1836 as Königliche Gewerbschule (Royal Mercantile College) and was elevated to a Technische Hochschule, a university of technology, in 1963. With over 9,000 students enrolled in over 100 study programs, TUC is the third largest university in Saxony.
TUC is known for its strong focus on engineering and technology, but it also offers a wide range of programs in the natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences. The university’s research is highly regarded, and it is home to several world-renowned research institutes, including the Center for Materials Science and Engineering and the Institute for Computer Science.
