Profile
Computational Mechanics had a profound impact on science and technology in recent decades and is now a key area of research and application worldwide. Solid Mechanics and Computational Fluid Mechanics constituted the core of development of Computational Mechanics. Nowadays it goes beyond these areas, with vast applications in other areas such as Biology, Medicine and Bioengineering. Computer codes based on based on Computational Mechanics are extensively used in industry, worldwide, to design, develop and optimize products and production processes. Given this reality, it is intended to provide a curriculum focused on the basics and fundamentals of these computer codes, in a more comprehensive, specialized and advanced way than what is currently provided by existing training offered at FEUP. The M.Sc. in Computational Mechanics is structured with the mission to train engineering professionals in the competitive global labor market, with the competence to act as change agents.
