This course is primarily aimed at students with an economics and business studies background who have a keen interest in quantitative methods and the mass use of data to maintain and increase companies’ competitive advantage, emphasising the aggregate economic impact. The course aims to study the computational, mathematical and statistical aspects relating to the processing of digital data, which is nowadays produced by many different human, commercial and industrial activities, and their implications in the economic and business environment.Students on the DABS – DATA ANALYTICS FOR BUSINESS AND SOCIETY course will acquire data processing skills to interpret and analyse complex phenomena in the fields of economics, strategy, marketing, human resources, finance, accounting and social sciences in general. Furthermore, the course will provide advanced skills on machine learning techniques to extract patterns and predictive models from digital data.The programme is divided into two study paths, Business Application and Fintech and Bigtech, which share the same quantitative training, with a strong basis of information technologies and the learning methods that are typical of artificial intelligence, statistical learning methods and mathematical optimisation methods to support decision-making and risk analysis.
