Digital media are everywhere and are therefore a major part of our lives and the lives of our children. The new specialisation in Digital Media in Human Development focuses on the opportunities and challenges of digital media in child rearing and education. Digital Media in Human Development is one of the nine specialisations of the master’s programme in Education and Child Studies that you can choose at Leiden University.The master’s specialisation Digital Media in Human Development distinguishes itself from other programmes in the field of digital media by paying explicit attention to the role of digital media in child rearing, education, the treatment of problems and how digital media influence child development.The programme of Digital Media in Human Development is interdisciplinary. It combines pedagogical, instructional and neurobiological knowledge and insights. It covers such subjects as:*learning to read with digital media*the role of parents in handling digital media*the scope for digital media to strengthen family interventions and treatment practices for problem situations*the influence of growing up in a digital environment on cognitive, emotional, motor and physical development together with the role played in this by parents and teachers.

Admissions Requirements
A bachelor's degree in the field of Education and Child Studies, provided this program contains at least 20 EC in research methods and statistics of social and behavioral sciences and the use of data analyze software, and at least 60 EC in Education and Child or Education and Child Studies relevant subjects, CV.
