Profile
The Master of Science in Materials Science provides students with an advanced training and integrated into the chemistry and physics of solid areas, the production technology and the engineering of materials, the instrumental characterization and modeling of the structure and properties. Even through a substantial laboratory work we intend to prepare the graduate to the design, testing and control of materials at the level of the constituents of matter with the application of nanotechnology tools. It aims to develop the experiments, critical evaluation of the data design capabilities, project development, communication activities and results also in English. The professionalism of the graduates will also manifest itself in the environmental impact consideration, industrial and economic feasibility of the selection and use of materials both in the local production environment relationship in the European context. The course provides an initial adjustment of mathematical knowledge, the chemical, physical, crystallographic the level required for a Master Class. It develops later on classroom activities, with advanced laboratory instrumentation and computer clusters on different types of materials (eg. Catalysts, semiconductors, superconductors, metals, polymers, glasses). It provides educational activities to learn more about industrial and economic environment. E ‘will be a training activities, internal or external to the university structures in public or private structures, for specialized training on topics directly related to those treated in the final test and for inclusion in the student’s work and research groups. The tour ends with the elaboration of an experimental project and the writing of a thesis that can also be carried out at laboratories or corporate production units and internally recourse may be also instrumental availability and expertise of the Center of Excellence Nanostructured Interfaces and Surfaces (NIS). The graduate will be able to participate in projects and activities that are being developed in local industries. Will signal the Platform for Aerospace, Regional Poles for innovation (new materials, mechatronics, sustainable chemistry, hydrogen, textiles), Industry 2015.
