Mechanical Engineering in Groningen has a long-running tradition of top research. We offer student a Master’s degree programme in Mechanical Engineering that perfectly fits the needs of a flourishing local industry, as well as preparing you for an international career in industry.The MSc Mechanical Engineering is organized with the goal of shaping new leaders in the engineering field. In the North of the Netherlands and, in particular, at the University of Groningen, cutting-edge research in mechanical engineering has been performed across various institutes for many years.Our Master’s degree programme in Mechanical Engineering makes the connection between a collaboration of highly ranked research institutes, and the demands of modern local and global industry, offering students a unique combination of engineering science and its applications to real-life problems.The programme offers two different tracks, each preparing you for a different specialized field. They are created in such a way that the needs of industry are met, perfectly preparing students for the innovative working field. Each track is closely linked to a relevant research institute:-Advanced Instrumentation is organized in cooperation with ENTEG, KVI-CART and SRON, research institutes specialized in instrumentation for many decades. Students may choose to focus on either radiation or space instrumentation.-Smart Factories was developed with the input of companies from the Innovation Cluster Drachten and the Region of Smart Factories organization. This track is mostly based on control engineering and includes robotics and autonomous systems.

Admissions Requirements
A bachelor's degree in a related field is required. Applicants from non-anglophone countries must provide proof of English proficiency (TOEFL 92 and IELTS 6.5). Admission Deadline: May 1
